Why we started

We kept meeting business owners who had been quoted badly. The pattern was always the same: someone had paid a lot for a site that looked fine and did nothing, or had been signed onto a monthly fee for a template they could not edit and did not own. Meanwhile the thing that would actually have helped, whether a booking system, a way to stop losing enquiries, or a database instead of a spreadsheet, was never on the table, because it is harder to build than a brochure page.

That is the gap CodeBlueprint works in. We do the design and the front end, but also the logic and the database behind it, so the site does work rather than describing it.

How we work

Fixed quotes before anything starts, so you know the number. Regular check-ins with something working to look at, rather than a big reveal at the end. Plain language, because you should not need us to translate our own invoice. And a straight answer when the thing you are asking for is not the thing you need, even when that answer costs us the job.

Your project does not depend on any one person

It is fair to ask what happens to your system if the people who built it are not around. Here is how that is handled rather than glossed over.

• You own everything. The code, the content, the database, the domain and the hosting account are in your name and handed over. Nothing is held hostage on our infrastructure.
• Deliberately boring technology. PHP, PostgreSQL, plain JavaScript. No obscure framework that only we understand. Any competent developer can pick these projects up.
• Written documentation. Every build ships with a plain-language description of how it fits together and where things live.
• Backups you can reach. Automated, stored off-server, and accessible to you, not only to us.

None of that is by itself a reason to choose us. It is what should be true regardless of who you hire, and it is worth asking anyone you talk to whether it is true of their work.

What we do not do

Paid advertising management, social media management, brand identity design from scratch, and enterprise-scale platforms needing large delivery teams. We know good people for the first three and will happily pass you on. For the fourth, you want a bigger agency, and we will say so.
